Railway Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB)

RISSB is fully owned subsidiary company of Australasian Railways Association (ARA), and was established to produce Rules, Codes of Practice, Standards and Guidelines for the Australian rail industry.  ARA and RISSB are non-profit member based organisations. Membership includes companies in categories of track owners; operators; rolling stock manufacturers and maintenance; signals and communications; research, education and training; consultants; and suppliers.

RISSB was reaccredited in August 2010 with an agreed work program identifying almost 140 Railway Rolling Stock standards and 30 Infrastructure standards for development.   Implementation of this work program will make RISSB the second largest developer of Australian Standards.  For more information visit their website at http://www.rissb.com.au/
